MOH Online patient experience Survey

Oct 14 2016
The Health Quality & Safety Commission and the Ministry of Health are introducing a national online primary care patient experience survey. Our practice is participating in the survey to understand what your experience with health care is like and how your overall care is managed.

The survey is conducted every three months, the next one with patients seen by participating practices from 8-14 November 2016. Eligible patients will receive a unique survey link by email or text during the week of 24 November 2016. Participation is voluntary however, if you take part, your responses will be anonymous and your privacy protected throughout.

By taking part in the survey, you will be helping to improve care and access to health services in local communities across New Zealand. For more information

Flu Vaccination

Apr 09 2016

Flu can be anywhere. Get immunised.

Contact with the influenza virus is almost unavoidable, and while contact does not necessarily mean infection, it does mean that you are never far from the possibility of catching it.

Influenza, commonly called the flu, can be a serious illness that is sometimes fatal. Infection with the influenza virus may lead to a stay in hospital for any age group but particularly if you are elderly or have an ongoing medical condition. Influenza can make an existing medical condition, such as asthma or diabetes, a lot worse.

Even if you do not end up in hospital, influenza can keep you in bed for a week or more, preventing you from doing work, sport or just about anything that requires leaving the house.

You can protect yourself and the people around you by getting your annual influenza immunisation, just like over a million other kiwis do each year.

FREE for many people.

Don't take the risk! Call your local GP or nurse to arrange a FREE immunisation if you are in any of the following groups:

  • are pregnant
  • regularly use an asthma preventer
  • have diabetes
  • have heart disease
  • have kidney problems
  • have cancer
  • have a serious medical condition
  • are aged 65 years or over
  • a child aged 4 years and under who has been hospitalised for a respiratory illness, or has a history of significant respiratory illness
  • If you have another ongoing serious medical condition you may also be eligible for a FREE influenza immunisation

If you do not have one of these eligible conditions, you still benefit from an influenza immunisation available, at a small cost.

Shared Care Record is live

Feb 12 2015

From 7 April 2014, a summary of your health records will be immediately available to hospital clinicians and afterhours GPs, as the electronic Shared Care Record is launched in Wellington, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast.

The Shared Care Record lets authorised health care providers, such as after hours GPs and hospital doctors, access a summary of information from your GP.

Information like your test results, medical conditions, allergies and prescribed medications will be shared. The information will be available at any time, even if our medical practice is closed.

The information is stored securely in New Zealand and all access to the information is recorded and routinely audited.

You can choose to withhold some or all of your information. However, if you choose to withhold your information, health professionals involved in your care, for example in an emergency or after hours situation, may not immediately have information available and this could delay appropriate treatment and mean additional tests are needed.

If you don’t wish other health providers to have access to your Shared Care Record, you can opt-out by calling us on 0800 727 664, telling your GP, or sending a letter to the freepost address below:
